McLaren Hospital Tour for Doulas
Today was wonderful!

The tour at McLaren started off at the smoothie shop, which came highly recommended by the staff! Following we made our way up to the fourth floor and were shown the lobby and bathroom and how to buzz into the unit. Next we saw a beautiful labor room, complete with large windows, couch, large TV and a huge bathroom with a tub with tile backsplash.
While in the labor room we were given the opportunity to ask questions and learn about common as well as least common hospital practices.
We then saw a triage room, every triage room has its own bathroom and space for a support person and doula.

Following the tour, we had a meet and greet with friendly staff, including nursing staff, OR tech named Heather, several residents, midwife Dominique (AKA my daughter) and attending physician Dr. Witters.
The whole tour you could feel the support and welcoming environment.
We were also given a tour of the OR!
They provided cookies, beverages and a little gift for us as a thank you for supporting our community.
It was an honor to be part of this experience and to be more familiar with the labor and delivery unit as well as collaborating with the medical team.
I think the best part was getting an opportunity to talk with various physicians in a chill, laid back environment.
